Frutiger

This post starts my font of the week, in which every week I will post a font that I’m terribly fond of for some reason or another.

Fruitiger is, without a doublt, one of my favorite typefaces of all time. I try and squeeze it in wherever I can when I’m throwing together a design comp (which, unfortunatley is less and less these days). If you take a look at Tackboard you can see how Frutiger just made the design.

I think my favorite aspect of this particular font is how well the uppercase and lowercase compliment each other. The font is given a completely new look when used all uppercase that still fits well with the lowercase letters. Frutiger is great for big bold headlines where you can really show off this font’s uniqueness, but the lighter variants also do excellent as a clean body text.
